  • Fire!

You might wonder why I am posting a picture of firemen and a fire. It's because my husband and oldest son own that building. It was rented to a powder coating business. No one was injured in the fire, thank God.
We don't know what will happen next. Insurance adjusters are working on it. The business, of course, lost all their equipment, putting them out of business, at least temporarily, and leaving their employees jobless. The building was completely destroyed. Fire can be so destructive. Thank God for capable, willing firemen.
We are still making payments on the place, so that must continue, but without having the rental income. I am hoping and praying for a good outcome for all concerned. I am just so thankful that the fire was put out, and that no one was hurt. I didn't see the building until after the fire was out. The picture is from the on-line newspaper. We never know what's going to happen in a day. Later that day we drove to a farm to pick up some fresh veggies. Here's a picture of some of them. So I've been busy cooking and freezing. And eating too, of course.  I just love fresh raw peas.

  • sad about the fire ~ the veggies look wonderful, though! :)

  • What a blessing that no one was killed or even injured. Having said that, I'm praying now that things will "work together for good" for you and for the company.
Beautiful vegetables! And huge! I love fresh veggies and fruit! :-)
    Blessings on your Sunday!

  • So sorry to hear about the fire Gracia. What a tragic happening. But so happy that no lives were lost.
You have such a bountiful crop of vegetables. I got beans and some peppers from mine. I see that you have grown beets too. I love beets.

    • Actually I didn't grow those. We know a lady who does, and sells them from a little stand by her house. I used to garden when I was younger, but was never very good at it.

  • So glad that nobody was hurt in that fire! And I, too, hope that all will work out for the best for you re the payments and the company, etc! What lovely veggies -- I went to the strawberry stand that I like -- came home with berries plus cucumbers and an avocado! Now to fix it all!

  • Oh my! So sorry. I heard about this as it was going on! Didn't realize it belonged to someone I knew. :-( Hopefully you can come to an agreement with the insurance company quickly!

I love the raw peas too. I buy the sugar snap peas at the grocery. One of my favorite snacks.

  • sorry about the lose of the building.

    I like the homegrown.

  • Gee! I'll say a prayer for a quick and satisfactory resolution! The produce looks tasty! I love the sugar snap peas - steamed! yum.

  • You and your husband and son and the renters are in my prayers.

Let's hope the insurance company acts quickly to pay this claim.

  • This is frightening . I am sorry for this fire that ruins the user of the building and deprives you of income despite of he insurances.
This always gives a shock .
    Love

  • Hi--What was the name of the company? Hoping it wasn't my relatives who have a powder c oating company around there. Sorry to hear it.

  • Yes, they are my cousins. It's a small world! And very sad to hear this news, I sent them a message.

    • It is a small world. Just thankful no one was hurt, and they (and we) have insurance. Not sure what will happen next. I don't know your cousins, but my son and husband know him.
