  • Party, Party.

A couple of weeks ago we went to a grand-daughter's house for a party.  It was a birthday party for her and for her husband who both have birthdays in July.  It was also a housewarming party as most of us hadn't seen their new house.  In addition it was to be a gender-revealing party, if their second baby co-operated.  Their first is a cute almost-two year old boy.  The baby did  co-operate, and the cake turned out to be pink.

Friends of theirs brought their bouncy house, and the 2 little boys attending just loved it.  Our grandson is inn front, and his little friend is behind.

Cutting the cake. Only the grandma (on the left) who made the cake knew what color it was.

Our grand-daughter is on the right. Her baby is due in Dec. On the left is her good friend, whose 2nd baby is due in Sept. It's fun to be around younger people.

  • I'm not sure if any of my replies to your comments are getting to you or not?  Please let me know.  Thanks.

Today is the day that was to have been the wedding day.  We are still praying for reconciliation and a wedding in the future if that's God's will.  In the meantime we will celebrate with a family summer birthday party.

Happy Birthday to Robert, Tre, Jim, Melissa, Adam, Lynnae, Joe, Marley and Evie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope I didn't forget anyone.  The little ones will get lots of presents.  The grown-ups will get mostly cards.  I try to give an inexpensive gift to all of them.

The party will start at noon, and everyone is to bring some food.  Hubby bought a lot of corn at a farm, and he and some of the family helped shuck it.  I made a crazy cake yesterday.

I'd better go start getting ready.  I'll probably have pictures for you all soon.  Thanks for reading.

  • Well, the company has started.  Last night our guests were friends from So. Indiana.  They have a pick-your-own blueberry farm not too far from Louisville.  They brought us some just-picked blueberries.  Yumm.   Diane is very helpful.  She brought up all the sheets and towels they had used, and started the washer.  My daughter said she will make up the beds when she gets here.  That's the TX daughter.  They're on their way here now, she and her husband and their daughter.  They're driving.  Thurs. their oldest son and his wife and baby girl are flying to Indy.  Then our youngest son will drive in for the weekend.  So if I don't post for awhile, you'll know why.  We're having the summer family birthday party on Sat.  I think there are 9 people with summer birthdays!  A lot of work, but it's better than moping around thinking about the wedding that should have been that day.  God has His ways, and He knows what He's doing.   We might wish He'd show us the plan more often, but then we'd never learn to trust Him.  See y'all on Mon. if not before.

  • Living in the Country

People think it must be so nice and quiet and peaceful in the country.  Yesterday the weather was pleasant so I sat outside on our deck to read awhile.  At first I heard a noise from next door, like boom, boom, boom.  It was their TV in the garage.  Our daughter and son in law rent from us, so I didn't complain.  It wasn't real loud.  Then I heard a loud steady noise, that came close and then moved further away.  Remember I said they planted wheat across from us for the first time since we've lived here?  For 21 years they rotated corn and beans.  This year it was wheat, and they harvested it yesterday.  A little later there was a loud noise overhead.  It was a crop duster plane.  Our grand-daughter saw me on our deck and came over to visit.  I gave her my camera and told her to see if she could get a picture of the plane.  So much for a peaceful quiet afternoon in the country.

  • My husband is Not Royalty

    Here is Proof Positive:

    101_0453

Oops, looks like somebody spilled coffee.....couldn't have been me. Oh no.

I've been cleaning house before the company comes. I found this brown thing..........it's a pecan, under the couch cushion. That is the end of the couch where hubby lays his head when he's sleeping. Sometimes he sleeps in the bed, but more often in his chair or on the couch. He's a light sleeper. I'm not. You would think that if a princess could feel a pea under....how many was it? 17? mattresses, that a prince ought to be able to feel a pecan under 1 couch cushion. So I guess this proves he's not a prince. I probably thought he was when we were first married. I had a friend who said when the prince comes on the white horse to take you away, watch out.   Guess who gets to clean up after the horse.

Getting serious for a minute. Youngest son is on a plane flying back to Germany to pack up his things. He was due to fly yesterday, but the flight was cancelled. He'll fly back to Rochester Sat. The following Sat. he will drive here to be with family. After that it's back to Rochester to get an apartment and work for at least 2 months. After that, only God knows, and I'm glad He does. We still have hope for the 2 of them for the future.

Went to the dentist today, and had the 2 temporary caps removed and permanent ones put in.  I told the dentist (she's a great gal, with small but strong hands) that a good definition of faith is sitting in a dentist's chair, and opening your mouth.

  • Wedding Cancelled.

That's right, the wedding that was planned for July 26 for our youngest son and his fiancee has been cancelled.  It was his fault and her decision.  I'd better not say any more than that.  All of us are heartbroken.  They do still love each other, and maybe in the future they will get back together.  It seemed like they were a perfect match.  It's been a rough couple of days for all of us.  We're praying for God's will in the future for both of them.  Some of the TX family that were planning to come for the wedding are still coming to visit.  That will be good.  Our son is flying back to Germany to take care of things (connected with his internship at Bosch) there before flying  back home.  He will be living and working in Rochester, N.Y. for awhile.  Thanks for all of your kind comments saying you were thinking of us and praying for us.  It's great to have friends like you all.

  • Prayer

Please pray for a situation in our family.  Several of us have broken hearts.  I know God can bring good out of it, but right now it is very hard.  Thank you so much.  I can share more details later.

  • County Fair

A couple of nights ago we decided to go to our county fair for supper.  We usually eat at the pork producers stand, and later we get ice cream from the Leesburg Lions.  We walked through the Merchants tent on our way to see the animals.  I kind of like goats so I took quite a few goat pictures.

    101_0439 101_0438 101_0437 101_0440

The goat in the last picture wants my husband to stop so he can taste his trousers. I think the goat in the next to last picture should be named Oreo.

There was a tiger show again this year. We didn't watch it. I really don't think tigers belong in a county fair.

    101_0442

    Next we saw the cows

And of course, we couldn't miss the horses.

We didn't stay much longer. We were both tired.
