Living in the Country
People think it must be so nice and quiet and peaceful in the country. Yesterday the weather was pleasant so I sat outside on our deck to read awhile. At first I heard a noise from next door, like boom, boom, boom. It was their TV in the garage. Our daughter and son in law rent from us, so I didn't complain. It wasn't real loud. Then I heard a loud steady noise, that came close and then moved further away. Remember I said they planted wheat across from us for the first time since we've lived here? For 21 years they rotated corn and beans. This year it was wheat, and they harvested it yesterday. A little later there was a loud noise overhead. It was a crop duster plane. Our grand-daughter saw me on our deck and came over to visit. I gave her my camera and told her to see if she could get a picture of the plane. So much for a peaceful quiet afternoon in the country.

yeah but you don't hear those sounds all day long, right? So some occasional sound like that would be okay I think.
Yes, you are right. Even when our son in law's band practices in the garage they stop at 9 pm. (Our daughter makes him.) At night we hear the tree frogs in the spring, and an occasional croak from a big frog in the pond. Those are nice sounds.
Peace and quiet is a hard commodity to come by anywhere today it seems. I often think we were better off before the industrial age of mechanics. God intended life to be simple.
God bless granddaughters that come by to sit and visit.
Such varied sounds during your day! Are those birds in the #2 photo? Or are they last year's corn stalks?
I think they are just weeds. The farmers around here do no-till planting. Last year we had soybeans in the field.
Oh, the delight of sound. Last night I visited with a step-sister-in-law who recently received a cochlear implant. She is hearing for the first time in 4 1/2 years.
Wonderful! Does Cerwin's mom still hear well? My mother's the same age, and we have to get right in front of her and holler. She has expensive hearing aids but has never gotten used to them.
The photos look so peaceful :there is no sound !

As long as humans populated this planet, it will be noisy. lol
Brings back very fond memories....We lived in the house that my husband grew up in....When his Mom passed away, we inherited....Lived there for 10 years....
I enjoyed listening to the sounds of farming, but my husband decided to sell, since he no longer farmed...He sold off all the land, except for the 2 and a half acres the house set on. 10 years later, we remodeled, then sold the house.....
We've lived here now for 10 years....And, remodeling is being started....This year the roof....Next year the bathroom....And after that? Maybe sell, maybe more remodeling, we shall see later.....
A crop-dusting helicopter flew right past our son's window!! of their home yesterday ~ really startled me ~
I, too, spent a lot of my young life in the country. I miss the sounds and sights from there. Looks like the granddaughter got a good picture.
Wow! Never thought of it that way before.
Nice pictures.
Yes, the country can be peaceful or noisy. Most of the time we don't have a choice.
It's nice to have family close by too. I know that feeling.
Those sounds mean summer to me! Hehe! Just the kind of "music" to let you know you are part of the land...
The loudest noise comes from silence
The brightest light from the darkness
The greatest hope from deep despair
And the deepest love from my shallow heart.
Thank you. I like that poem.
