Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ducks
My 5 year old grand-daughter just loves the teenage mutant ninja turtles. She got a small one for her birthday and carries it with her wherever she goes. Not very girly I know, but hey. I don't know which turtle it is. I never did learn all their names.
These are teenage ducks with their mother. I'm not sure which one is her. They're swimming up Cherry Creek, which flows into the lake, which flows into the Tippy River, which eventually flows into the Mississippi and then the Gulf. The same stream flows by our house, but here it is called Wyland Ditch. I think Cherry Creek is a much nicer name. Maybe there were cherry trees near it a long time ago. There sure aren't any now.
I think I see the mom in this picture. I love to watch little baby ducks follow their mothers. Wouldn't it be nice if human children followed their moms that closely? I had one girl who loved to hide from me in a store. That can be scary! These days it could be downright dangerous. When my oldest was little I used a harness. It worked good. I tried to use it on my 2nd child, a boy. I ended up dragging him all over and finally gave up. I don't know why I didn't fasten the harness in front instead of in back. Just never thought of it, I guess. I still would have had to drag him, but at least he would have been facing forward. He wasn't being naughty. He was just slow and deliberate, and wanted to look at everything. He didn't touch.......just looked.
When my youngest girl was about 20 months old my mother paid the way for the 3 of us to go to Spain to visit my brother. Mother lived in Fla. at the time, so we met in New York at the airport, and flew together from there. I put a harness on my daughter so I wouldn't lose her in the airport in N.Y.
As I was walking her around, a man barked at her. I ignored him. At least I didn't lose her. It was not a fun trip, but we had a good time once we got there.

Love the teenage ducklings!
Harnesses are a life-saver for some mothers ~ I never used one, but knew some who did ~ with children who simply refused to stay with their parents ~ it saved them much worry ~
There is not much that is more relaxing than to watch ducks and ducklings ~ enjoyed your post ~
I had a harness when I was little. When I was a bit older, my mother told me how far down the block I could go when I was playing outside. It was 2 or 3 houses one way, and to the corner or the alley the other way. She told me if I went further than that she'd tie me to the clothesline. I thought she meant she'd hang me up like she did the clothes. What she meant was she'd put on my harness and tie it to the clothesline. She never had to do it.
I've never been a fan of the harness but they came out with the wrist tether and that was better... I never had to resort to that with my kids but there were times when it would have given me a sense of security... Love the teen ducks!
It is funny what kids love now. lol
I love ducks with their ducklings. I have seen them crossing a highway and cars stopping to let them cross.
I had friends in Indianapolis that had a duck fly in annually to have hear babies and use her swimming pool.
I love the turtles I started watching them years ago with my daughter she liked Donatello. And the fact they love pizza...
I hope I am following you now
I hope so too.
Pretty ducks.
I tried the harness with Elita but she was not a fan.
I gave it to a friend and her girl loved it.
I had her hold my shirt when we were in stores and never walk behind me.
The one time we flew to Calif. we both held her hands between us. She was 4.
