Songs
How many of you wake up with a song going through your head? I often do. This morning it was "Put another nickel in, in the nickolodeon." A few days ago it was "In the cross of Christ I glory." Sometimes it's "Knick-kncak, paddywhack, give the dog a bone." Or "Sweet and low, sweet and low, wind of the western sea, blow, blow, beathe and blow, wind of the western sea." I can't remember the name of that one, but I used to sing it to my babies. Another one I sang or hummed was "Desert silver blue beaneath the pale moon skies, coyotes yappin' lazy on the hill." I changed one line to time for little babies to be still. I think the real word was doggies (pronounced dohggies). I also sang Jesus Loves Me" of course, because I wanted them to learn that young. "You are my sunshine" was a favorite, and now my grandchildren sing it to their babies. I loved nursing my babies and then rocking them to sleep. Did you sing lullabies to your babies? What ones? And if you wake up with songs in your heads, what are they? I'm going to miss Xanga. This is not a FB type post. I wish they would improve Xanga, then I would pay to stay.

I was a non-singer to the kids.lol They loved my wife to read them stories over and over and over. lol
I can't sing much at all anymore. I can't even read out loud for very long. I guess my voice-box is getting old. It's sad.
I was more into reading them stories....I never could sing worth beans.....
Xanga, is not Face Book, as you say, but...It never was really, but the old Xanga was so much better....I'm with you, I'm not going to renew to stay on Xanga....I just plain don't like it any more....
For my friends on here, if they want to remain friends, they'll find me on Face Book, Holy Pal, and Blogster.....Most of the time I'm on Blogster....
You are so right... this is definitely not the type of post that would fly on FB... noone bothers to talk to one another on FB.
You will be missed if you leave Xanga too. But I think we'll all be leaving, since they haven't made it like it once was, and why pay when you can go elsewhere and get the same for free.
I often wake with scripture in my mind... God speaking me awake.
Are you leaving Xanga? I wish John Hiler would get his act together and help all of us.
My subscription runs out in Oct. I'd like to stay, and probably would if they would improve the site a little.
Please don't leave Xanga! Please don't go!
We should plan to meet sometime. We live in Warsaw, IN. Every now and then we go to Indy. I think you must live south of us and north of indy?
My grandfather sang You are my sunshine to me and I've sung that one to my boys... I also sing Comin' thro the rye. Please don't leave xanga - pretty please!
I think You are my sunshine is a favorite of everyone.
Oh dear! Are you leaving? I guess I will leave, too, if they make us pay more. I had a song I always sang when I put my children to bed.
All through the day. All through the night
Dwell in His promises, walk in His light.
Darkness must leave
At His command
All through the day and night,
You're in His hand.
I don't know the tune to that one. I knew one that started out the same way, then said "The Savior has been watching over me." Then it repeated the first line, and then "He saves me so sweetly, so fully and completely, and washes in His all-atoning blood. My sins are all forgiv'n I'm on my way to Heaven. Walking in the smile of God." I'm not sure those words are right.
Yes, and actually we plan to be near Warsaw sometime in October, I think ~
We're right near Winona Lake. Have you been there recently? Maybe we could meet you for lunch or something. If you need a place to stay, we have a guest room and bathroom in our walk-out basement.
I replied but forgot to do it right, so I'll try again. We're close to Winona Lake. Maybe we could meet for lunch? If you need a place to stay, we have plenty of room.
I usually don't wake up to any songs but sometimes when I hear one on the radio, then I can't get it out of my head!
I am going to let mine expire in Oct., as there is no way to see who is still active on here and many of my subs have left.
