Switzerland
Switzerland is one of my favorite countries. It is so beautiful. We were able to visit there in the 1960's and 70's because back then you were allowed to make stops on international flights without paying extra as long as you were going in the same direction. Plus we had friends there to stay with. So, no extra $ for planes or motels meant opportunities for us. Since we were traveling with our children, we wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise. We made all our trips to and from Africa in December which is probably not the best time for sightseeing. I'll tell you this...........there is nothing colder than a castle in December! Of course, when people lived there, they would have had fires in the huge fireplaces, so I guess you could warm up once in awhile.
What countries have you been to that were beautiful? Of course, many parts of the US are beautiful. We're not able to travel much now because of my mother living with us. And when we do travel we usually go to TX to see the family........kids and grand-kids, and now 2 great grands and another one on the way. We are blessed.

I have not been to many other countries - Canada and Mexico. Canada is beautiful (at least the portion I saw). Toronto is a very clean city as I recall. We didn't get to see much of Mexico except the really touristy areas and I was not impressed...
We went by Toronto once and on to Ottawa to visit I cousin I'd never met. We were pen-pals as little girls. Ottawa was also very clean.
I thought Switzerland was very beautiful too. Italy, France, The Netherlands, Bali (Indonesia) and Thailand were some of the more amazing places I have been too. Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai and several others were cool, but not beautiful in my opinion. Of course India tops them all!
I love this shot -- it's so cool, and here it's 82 outdoors at 9 pm right now! Alaka is pretty beautiful, in many ways; and I loved Antarctica and northern Canada (two very different places!). Switzerland and Austria are both beautiful too!
I think the most beautiful country for me so far is Norway. I love the huge, rocky cliffs, and the ocean!
I've been to neighboring countries and Haiti. I think we have all the beauty of the world in our USA. I'd like to explore it more but time and money seem to be missing.
Yes, having to visit in December would have been quite a shock from Africa!
Yes, time and money limit the travels. America is beautiful. So much variety!
our favorite trip ever was to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island ~
We went to New Brunsick many years ago and it was beautiful. That's where my mother's family lived after they left Ireland.

I have only been to Canada, Mexico and Hawaii. lol I have loved Hawaii all of my life.
I've never been to Hawaii, but my son and his wife liked it so much they went again as soon as they could afford it and took their 2 children with them.
The only country I've been to, other than the U.S. Is Mexico....We lived in Southern California, when I was much younger, and my family made many trips into Mexico.....To just spend the day at the beach and in the sun....
Where did you live in Calif? We lived in Long Beach.
El Salvador and Nicaragua.
El Salvador I like the best. We stayed in San Salvador and most of it was local outreach. We were 35 miles from the Equator.
Nicaragua was okay. We were based in Managua but the year I went our outreach was up in the mountains, 3 hour trip each way, and a lot of rain and so much humidity it was hard to keep your clothes dried out at night as all you had was a wire hanger. No dryers.
I've never been further south than Tijuana, and that hardly counts. We have a new restaurant in town that is run by a couple who came from Nicaragua. They are US citizens now and very proud of it. The food at the restaurant is great. So is the service. They close Saturdays because they are Seventh Day Adventist.
