  • Prayer Still Needed

The war continues in the Central African Republic, or CAR.  First the Seleka rebels throw a grenade into a church killing many, then the anti-balaka burn a Mosque, and the cycle 9f hate and revenge continues.  Ordinary people who  want to be left alone to work in their gardens, send their children to school, and just live, are killed because they happened to be in the way of the groups that are fighting.   Keep praying for peace there.

There is a family in our church who are from there.  They've been here several months.  They're scheduled to return the end of this month.  Pray for safety for them as they return, and for peace for the parents as they take their 2 youngest children back to a war zone.  We had them come for supper last night, and I took this picture of the 2 girls.

    Aren't they pretty?

  • Such beautiful young ladies. I hate to think of them going back to that war torn country.

  • Yes, they are pretty and I pray they and their family will be safe! God bless your week too.

  • Yes they are pretty, very beautiful, in fact...

I will pray that they and their family are safe, upon their return to Africa....

  • It is nice seeing such attractive Christian ladies from that part of the world. It is encouraging.

    • The 2 girls are only about 12 and 14. When they came 6 months ago, the younger one was taller than the older one. Now the older girl has caught up and they're both about the same height. They were able to enroll them in in elementary school near where they were living while here. We didn't feel they were ready for middle school. Also they didn't speak English when they came. They did speak French, Sango and a couple of tribal languages. They did well in school.

  • I wish they could have continued to stay back in the US. How charming they seem and I am sure the school faculty and the students loved having them in their midst.

    • The dad was sponsored by the Christian college in our town. I'm not sure if he taught classes, or just interacted with the students informally, but I know he spent a lot of time there. He has a PhD from the seminary here. In Africa he is the director of the seminary there. The mom took ESL classes at our church. I think they have a certain kind of visa that runs out this month.
